What is Touch Screen Cover Glass?
Cover glass, also referred to as Cover Lens or protective glass, is a fundamental component in touch-enabled electronic devices such as smartphones and tablets. It is applied to both the front screen and back cover of these devices, serving crucial functions including anti-drop protection, scratch resistance, pressure resistance, high-temperature endurance, LCD protection, and aesthetic enhancement.
Touch screen cover glass is the outermost layer that you interact with on devices like phones and tablets. It is distinct from the layers that detect your touch inputs. This glass plays a vital role in safeguarding the device from damage and ensuring clear visibility and responsive touch functionality.
Advanced Glass Production Techniques:
The cover glass industry has advanced with the development of sophisticated production techniques. There are two primary methods: the overflow method and the float method.
The overflow method involves a process where the surface of the original glass piece does not come into contact with other interfaces during production. This allows the final product to maintain high strength without the need for grinding or polishing, thereby improving product yield.
The float method, which is more technologically mature, offers high production capacity and lower costs. It can produce large glass sizes and is known for its cost advantage. However, it has lower production stability compared to the overflow method.
